Let's
take a more detailed look at one of the most important sections
of your
ULTRASCORE API
AYP Score Improvement Study
...
The
ULTRASCORE
Intelligent Remediation Lists
 |
We apply rigorous
and exhaustive computer analysis to the CST cluster scores and
demographics of every one of your students.
We then find the 15%-20% of your school’s students who can
truly benefit from remediation and who can simultaneously make
your API and AYP scores soar. As an alternative,
we can structure our study around any other strategic
group you specify --- or even your entire school.
Our goal is to choose
just the right students, and just the right number of
students, to match your resources and meet your goals .
These are the only students you need to work with. These are
the students who have the ability to skyrocket your school’s
scores!!! You will be helping every one of
these students to meet his educational and life goals while
making your school's targets.
|
 |
For each selected student, we
develop a proprietary individual learning profile
based upon the student's
learning style,
personal
environment,
learning
environment,
and
scoring strand
profile.
We use the individual
learning profile
to select the correct
remediation standards for each selected student. (To
learn more about
ULTRASCORE
History and Methodology, including a discussion on our
proprietary individual student learning profile,

|
 |
We then
individually produce your
ULTRASCORE
Intelligent Remediation Lists showing
you exactly which students need to improve in exactly which
California Content Standards to give your school a maximum API
AYP gain according to the actual API AYP scoring rules.
The lists are supplied to you in paper format and also in
database/spreadsheet computer formats for easy tracking.
|
|
What's the
Overall Goal of the Remediation Lists?
|
| The goal is to provide you with a unified system that saves you
98% of your time!! We give you the right 15% of your
students to remediate. For those students, we give you the
25% of standards on which to remediate based on their needs and
the exact standards California deems to be important. We show you which
standards will be tested, in which proportions, as released by the
test vender. We show you
actual previous test questions for those standards.
You get to teach efficiently. Students learn
efficiently to meet their academic and life goals. |
Your school will receive two levels of
ULTRASCORE
Intelligent Remediation Lists
The major-subject-area remediation list shows which students need help in which of the
major subject areas. The purpose of this list is to help you develop
a general plan and allocate resources.

|
What the
Major-Subject List Shows You
|
| Notice that
not all students require remediation in all subjects. Student Vanessa Cota
is listed as needing remediation in Language and Math. |
The subject-specific remediation lists show more
precisely where the students need help. Separate subject-specific student
remediation lists are prepared for ELA and Math. For every student marked as needing help in a subject on the
major-subject-area student remediation list above, the
subject-specific student remediation list shows the California
Content Standard in which the student needs help.

list for Math.
|
What the Math
List Shows You
|
Notice that student "Vanessa Cota" is listed as needing
remediation in only 10 of the 55 California Math Content Standards for
Grade 4. To remediate Vanessa Cota for maximum school gain on API and
AYP --- while also improving all academic outcomes for her --- use any
materials aligned to the California Content Standards (such as any
currently adopted textbook) and work on the listed standards
ONLY. Notice, for example, that the student is
listed as needing remediation in standard N1.3 .
|
|
We include
actual questions from the STAR TEST
|
| From the Sample Questions
file provided*, you will find an actual
question for standard N1.3 that has appeared on previous STAR
tests. Vanessa Cota needs to know how to answer the
following type of question in order to help your entire school meet
its API and AYP targets: What is 38,467,293 rounded to the
nearest ten-thousand:
A) 38,000,000
B) 38,500,000
C) 38,470,000
D) 38,468,000
|
|
Two Special
Notes for Middle Schools & High Schools |
- Your remediation lists will have the standards for the exact
math course in which each student is enrolled. A
9th-grader taking Algebra 1 will have the standards for the
Algebra 1 CST. An 11-th grader taking Geometry will have
the standards for the Geometry CST.
- Since your AYP proficiency is based upon CAHSEE proficiency
for grade 10, we will analyze your CASHEE results separately,
and you will receive a separate set of remediation lists based
upon the CAHSEE standards.
